Content: The 20 chapters of this book are divided into four parts. The first part provides background on demographic characteristics, barriers to health care, behaviors that influence health care seeking and utilization, and recent legislative changes that have affected immigrants and refugees. The second part is a general review of typical preventive health issues and chronic diseases. The third section covers mental health problems and offers particularly relevant discussion of domestic and sexual violence and post-traumatic stress disorder. The final section focuses on solutions and combines useful tools with descriptions of their successful applications in society.
