In the Editors' Notes on page 20 of a recent article on comparision of hospital risk-standardized mortality rates (1), the Contribution section should read as follows: This study compared in-hospital mortality with mortality 30 days after admission [not discharge] in patients with myocardial infarction, heart failure, or pneumonia in U.S. hospitals from 2004 to 2006 and found that changing the type of mortality changed the quality ranking for 8% to 15% of hospitals.
This has been corrected in the online version.
