To the editor: The recent article by Dr. Tah-Hsiung Hsu (1) states that cyproheptadine may induce breast enlargement and that "this complication may be viewed as beneficial in most women." Beneficial by whom? Does Dr. Hsu mean "by most women" or "by most men in most women"? Perhaps Dr. Hsu would like to comment on a hypothetical drug whose only "complication" is elephantiosis and whether this might be considered "beneficial in most men".
Scientific journals are not the place for such sexist statements.
