To the editor: I read with interest the article by Mitnick and colleagues (1) on calcium and phosphate metabolism in tumoral calcinosis. We, also, have undertaken studies of calcium metabolism in tumoral calcinosis ([2, 3]; also PRINCE M, SCHAEFER P, GOLDSMITH R, CHAUSMER A. Tumoral calcinosis: an ectopic calcification syndrome associated with elevated serum 1, 25 (OH)2 cholecalciferol. Program and abstracts of the 60th Annual Meeting of the Endocrine Society, 1978: 235. Abstract 322) and have noted some striking similarities between this case and the cases of our series. There are, however, some differences in interpretation.
