Despite the title, most of the 32 chapters apply to either sex. Five chapters are more specifically concerned with problems of female athletes: those on gynecologic and endocrine factors and pregnancy (M. M. Shangold); women in the military-service academies, legal problems (L. M. Bodnar and T. L. Bodnar); and the future of women in sports (M. Melvin).
