A moment too infrequent, dinner with my second-favorite woman in the world. The parade of humanity, as only New Orleans can present it, provided a feast for our eyes, if not food for thought. Conference attendees, themselves in search of dinner, stopped to say, “Hello.” All was right with the world.
“Seventy years old today,” I sighed. “I can't believe I've made it to this point. I'm worthy of that tired cliché, ‘If I'd known I would live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.’”
“You have concerns about your masculinity, Michael?”
“Well, yes, sure.”
