An atlas is supposed to teach through the use of pictures; this one does so very effectively with high-quality photomicrographs representing the spectrum of benign and malignant disease affecting these cavities as well as presenting the normal cytologic components of serous cavity fluid.
The atlas is organized into sections on historical aspects, normal cells in fluid, and benign and malignant effusions, with the last category being subdivided into carcinomas, mesotheliomas, lymphomas, and other malignant neoplasms.
