In the production of this new edition the author attempted to reduce its size, but because of the important additions to our knowledge along the line of clinical pathology in the last four years, it proved necessary to increase by about the same number of pages it had been planned to reduce it. This work began as a laboratory manual in clinical pathology prepared to serve as a textbook for the student officers at the Naval Medical School, and in each revision the author has been guided by his experience in teaching, and by the criticisms of students and suggestions
