The author has aimed in this volume to present in simple diagrammatic form the mechanism of the various types of cardiac irregularity together with their clinical signs, such as electrical manifestations, heart sounds and the arterial and venous pulses. The diagrams are drawn to scale in order that the various components of the extracardiac manifestations of the heartbeat may be correlated with one another and with the corresponding phases of the intrinsic cardiac mechanisms in any given arrhythmia.
