That there exists a relationship between hyperglycemia and hypotonia has been the subject of much discussion. Observations by Joslin indicate that in diabetics over 35 years of age the blood pressure is higher than in normal individuals. With this Hitzenberger agrees, placing the percentage of cases of high blood pressure among diabetics as 46 per cent. Maranon also is of the opinion that diabetics are more inclined to high blood pressure than non-diabetics of the same age.
