For two years these authors carried out studies on the specific treatment of lobar pneumonia at Bellevue Hospital, largely confined to investigation of the immunologic properties and the therapeutic value of concentrated antipneumococcus serum prepared according to the method of Felton. The summary of this work appears to indicate the following: Refined antipneumococcus serum is a purified and concentrated derivative of ordinary antipneumococcus horse serum.
