Singer advises that the term coronary obstruction be used in place of coronary thrombosis, inasmuch as endarteritis of the coronaries and embolism may produce the same clinical picture as that of thrombosis. Nitrites do not influence the continuous severe anginal pain of coronary obstruction. Increase of temperature is often present. Out of 20 cases observed by him 5 died in the first attack, 2 in the next 8 weeks. Absolute rest in bed is indicated, with the use of morphine, in spite of the theoretic consideration that as a vagotonic drug it narrows the coronary arteries, quinidin, and later euphyllin.
