The geographical distribution of exophthalmic goiter, when correlated with possible specific factors, may yield information of value in respect to the etiology of this disease. This is a field of investigation which is far from being exhausted. A simultaneous study of other diseases of endocrine dysfunction and of metabolic exhaustion, such as diabetes and pernicious anemia, should be of value as a control. Using mortality statistics as a basis, and calculating the deaths from each disease as a percentage of the total number of deaths in given areas, distribution maps have been prepared for North America, and likewise climate maps
