Recognizing the importance of physical chemistry as a basis for the explanation of fundamental physiological phenomena, the author has written this volume specifically to fulfill this requirement. In no sense is this book to be considered an exhaustive treatise on physical chemistry, and perhaps its general usefulness will be materially augmented by the policy of the author in confining his discussion to the applications of physical chemistry to physiology.
