Some years ago the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians, believing a sound financial foundation to be one of the best guarantees of insuring the stability and perpetuity of the College, provided for the building up of an Endowment Fund, "the principal of which shall be held intact and invested in securities approved by the Board of Regents, while the income shall be available for carrying out the purposes of the organization."
