This is essentially an autobiography in which the author sets forth his experiences while serving as a neuropsychiatrist with the A. E. F. during the First World War. The material is not very well integrated or organized, and the attempt to coördinate past experiences with the vital needs of the present is weak. One-third of the book consists of case records covering a wide range of neuropsychiatric disabilities in which the author presents his clinical experiences and this is mostly descriptive in fashion. The remainder is devoted to the author's personal experiences, his impressions and his philosophy as it is
