This text embodies a comprehensive presentation of laboratory methods for the diagnosis of protozoan diseases. The following subjects are included: Amebiasis and other Intestinal Flagellates; the Leishmaniases, Kala-Azar, Oriental Sore and Espundia; the Trypanosomiases, east and west African type and Chagas' disease; Coccidiosis; Malaria; and Balantidiasis. The accurate diagnosis of these diseases is dependent upon carefully performed laboratory tests. Much emphasis is placed on laboratory diagnostic methods which are discussed in great detail; clinical features are mentioned only briefly.
