The following paper attempts an analysis of 318 cases of dengue fever. The authors wish to emphasize that in this area there was no possible recourse to literature on this subject other than that contained in a few available standard textbooks. Approximately 1200 cases of dengue fever occurred in army personnel in and around a coastal town on an island in the South Pacific from March 1, 1943 to April 30, 1943.
