The authors adequately state the purpose of the text in their preface as follows: "... a text book which approached these problems from the point of view of the neurologist and the psychiatrist and at the same time critically appraised modern treatment methods." They have followed their original purpose and the final result is an excellent modern treatise on neurosyphilis. The bibliography at the end of each chapter is adequate. There are chapters dealing with fever therapy, tryparsamide, and penicillin.
