Aureomycin is the most recent antibiotic to be accepted into the group of antimicrobial agents that are highly effective in the therapy of human infections. The activity of this antibiotic seems to extend over a wider range of infectious agents than that of any of its predecessors. It is effective when given by mouth and has thus far been found to be essentially free of serious untoward effects.
