The author of this book states that he has spent 20 years in seven different state hospitals in the East, and that he once made an investigation of conditions in state hospitals for the American Medical Association. Although the author states that he has been a psychiatrist for 20 years he is not a member of the American Psychiatric Association, nor has he been certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His book is the culmination of his ideas about the care of the mentally ill and is aimed at revolutionizing the present system of state psychiatric hospitals.
