This is one of the best and most comprehensive monographs on the subject of renal physiology to appear in recent years. The approach is primarily and solely functional, and matters relating to renal pathology do not intrude into the discussion except when they clarify the normal activity. For instance, diabetes insipidus is somewhat lengthily considered because of the physiological implications of the disease, whereas the word nephritis is not even mentioned in the index.
