The purpose of this report is to present analyses of the pressor amine content of two pheochromocytomas and the metabolism of the hypertensive agents in these and a third tumor. Probably none of the reports of the epinephrine content of pheochromocytomas prior to the past few months is valid, qualitatively. The lack of specificity of the bioassay or chemical methods as they were used in the past did not differentiate that hormone from related compounds having similar biologic or chemical properties.
