This book represents one of a series, presenting round table discussions, organized by the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation, for the purpose of gathering material in preparation for the Midcentury White House Conference on Children and Youth which was held in Washington December 1950. The text consists essentially of three parts. In the first part two prominent anthropologists, Dr. George P. Murdock of Yale and Dr. John W. M.
