During the course of examining a group of patients with psoriasis, six cases were discovered with roentgenologic evidence of a peculiar type of arthritis. Four of these cases meet the criteria for diagnosis of the uncommon entity, pure psoriatic arthritis, while two show a mixture which we believe represents a combination of psoriatic arthritis with the rheumatoid type. The association of psoriasis and arthritis will be briefly reviewed and the problem of differentiating psoriatic arthritis from rheumatoid arthritis and other arthropathies will be discussed.
