This monograph is the result of 20 years of study and evaluation. The authors, believing that joint fluid of normal cattle was analogous to normal human joint fluid, and easier to obtain, made a number of studies to develop a series of "normal" levels for synovial fluid.
The study then proceeds to the abnormal, dealing with variations in characteristics of synovial fluid in pathological states, and includes complete bacteriological, cytological, enzymatic and chemical changes.
On the basis of these studies the discussion of abnormal fluid continues and is divided into the traumatic group and the rheumatoid arthritis and infectious disease
