EDMUND L. DUBOIS, M.D., F.A.C.P.
During the last six years the author has had the opportunity personally to study and treat 175 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. The purpose of this paper is to review the current status (to January, 1956) of 163 of these patients, who have adequate records available, in order to determine the following:
1. The incidence of the disease in a 3,600 bed hospital before and after the frequent use of the L.E. cell test.
2. The course of the disease with particular reference to spontaneous remissions.
3. The value of a battery of different types of L.E. cell tests.
