In a short period of time two cases have been observed of cirrhosis of the liver with manifestations of hepatic decompensation, accompanied by bilateral parotid hypertrophy of generous proportions. As the parotid enlargement was readily noted on physical examination, it presented the problem in these two patients of a differential diagnosis of jaundice with parotid enlargement. Since both patients happened to be Negroes, the suspicion of sarcoidosis was immediately entertained, but no other evidences of this disease were found.
