This text on the nature and practical application of neomycin comes at a time when clinicians are witnessing therapeutic failures as a result of microbial resistance to various antibiotics. More than ever before, the usefulness of a potent drug such as neomycin is recognized and the clinician has been obliged to modify his thinking about the use of antimicrobial agents with certain obvious disadvantages.
