The book is composed of a mixed salad of subjects by various authors often with little interrelationship between them. Many of the chapters miss the most significant recent findings. The opening chapter drawing heavily on electron microscopic findings only succeeds in whetting the appetite. The important contributions of this method to our knowledge of the various nephroses would have been more appropriate. The study of tissues in the fresh state is interesting but contributes little in comparison to current developments in quantitative tissue culture methods. "The Localization of Antibody Production" is obsolete in view of present fluorescent labelled antigen-antibody methods.
