The incidence of tuberculosis varies considerably throughout the world. Control measures effective in regions with low rates of infection cannot necessarily be utilized in high-incidence areas. Two widely divergent approaches to the control of tuberculosis are presented in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, 1959. In Denmark, a country with a low incidence of tuberculosis morbidity and mortality, eventual eradication of the disease is envisioned. The Danish report describes a program to achieve this goal.
