A young woman with the characteristic features of pure nephrosis was successfully treated with steroids at H. C. Moffitt Hospital. The clinical course and results of serial determinations of blood volume, creatinine clearance, serum proteins, and electrolytes before, during, and after treatment are described in this report.
This case is of particular interest (1) because of an episode of shock attributable in part to a diminished blood volume and in part to the administration of medication with antihypertensive properties; (2) because of the dramatic response to adrenal steroid therapy, accompanied by rapid disappearance of proteinuria and spectacular recovery of serum
