Physiologists differ widely in their choice of the most suitable text or texts on the subject. The medical student population represents the largest potential market for a text, but the interests of undergraduate biology students, graduate students in physiology and the biological sciences, and graduate physicians must be considered. Many students regard physiology as only an accessory interest if not a hurdle on the way to their careers, for example, in medicine or dentistry.
