A new cyto-immune method for use in the detection of the immediate type hypersensitivity to penicillin and other drugs is outlined. This method is based on the observation that the basophilic leukocyte in man undergoes degranulation when exposed in vitro to specific antigens in appropriate concentrations. The usefulness and the limitations of the test are surveyed.
