In this fifth edition of his text, Dr. Grollman follows the same general plan of the earlier editions. Part one consists of an interestingly written section titled "Introductory Considerations," in which such topics as mode of action of drugs, general theories of pharmacologic action, drug tolerance, synergism and idiosyncrasies, dose effect relationships, metabolic fate, etc., are discussed. In the appendix there are brief sections on prescription writing and classification of drugs according to their therapeutic uses.
