This report presents a most unusual manifestation of klebsiella pneumoniae infection, namely, purulent arthritis, and summarizes briefly the literature on klebsiella infections in general. To our knowledge, only one other case of klebsiella pneumoniae arthritis has been reported previously.
A 65-year-old white female cook was admitted to the medical service of the Cincinnati General Hospital on July 4, 1961, with a 2-day history of pain, swelling, redness, and heat in her left wrist.
