Here we have a compilation of the developmental and anatomical contributions to the Encyclopedia of the Cardiovascular System. Eleven authors provide a sound morphologic foundation for the student of cardiovascular function in health and disease. The outstanding feature of the book is its brevity without loss of clarity. The illustrations complement the unencumbered text. Particular attention might be drawn to the chapter on the embryology of the heart and vessels, which is refreshingly comprehensible.
