The effect of climate on human beings, especially sick ones, has understandably been a matter of great interest to New Orleans' physicians for many decades, and Dr. George Burch and colleagues have been painstakingly studying the effects of hot, humid environment on patients with cardiovascular disease for over twenty years. Their work has been collected and summarized in the present volume. Certain of the studies included in the book formed the basis on which Dr. Burch was recently invited to Russia to address the All-Union Conference of Therapeutists. Russian authorities recognized no other American work in the field.
