Although this tenth edition is addressed to obstetricians and gynecologists, the chapters on hypertension, acute renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, heart disease, coagulation defects, and anemia in relation to pregnancy are of potential interest to the internist.
The title of the book is misleading, for many important recent advances are overlooked. In the section dealing with pyelonephritis, for example, there is no mention of the exciting work done in the last six years by Kass and his colleagues on the biology of bacteriuria in pregnancy.
