This "fundamental and clinical text" is again, in a second edition, a contributive work, with discussions of all aspects of thyroid disease by a distinguished group of authors. The normal thyroid, thyroxine biosynthesis, pituitary control, pathology, nontoxic goiter, hyper- and hypothyroidism, cancer, and thyroiditis are treated, generally very thoroughly. Through editorial reserve emerges some of the conflict of opinion about the thyroid.
The current pace of medical research ensures that a textbook is always a bit dated. Editors may elect a balance of what is recognizably timeless and that of current research which holds most promise of enduring. This book
