Although perhaps undertaken to inform "the practicing physician," this comprehensive volume is in truth directed to the endocrinologist or to the gynecologist interested in metabolism of estrogens; it is a reference book rather than a handbook. It surveys, digests, and analyzes critically over 2,000 references in the world literature dealing with estrogens, especially their fate and function in man. Diczfalusy has made many laboratory contributions to current knowledge of estrogen metabolism and Lauritzen supplies the clinical balance to this editorial team. The text is in German.
This book is highly recommended to libraries for its future reference value.
