This scholarly book is a translation of a 1954 Russian book summarizing the author's thesis of 1952 and her occasional publications dating back over a score of years. Her own diverse and careful contributions on the muscular structure and innervation of various vessels, the heart, and paraganglia are illustrated by 145 photomicrographs and camera lucida drawings. These have undoubtedly suffered in the process of reproduction. The text, however, is clear and reads pleasurably, although it does not have the headings that would facilitate eclectic perusal.
