The third edition of Dr. Burch's Primer is about as good a place as any to begin the study of cardiology. The style is direct, lean and, if anything else, one of understatement. Its most attractive features are the many figures, none of which are photographs. These diagrams, charts, and line-drawings illustrate many points in cardiac physiology and clinical medicine.
