The major dust diseases of the lungs are presented in this monograph in ten chapters by six authorities, including four chapters by Dr. Lanza. His chapter on silicosis emphasizes pitfalls in making this diagnosis and dangers associated with jumping at conclusions regarding disability caused by silicosis. The thoroughness with which each case is studied regarding exposure to dust containing crystalline-free silica often makes the difference between a misdiagnosis and a proper evaluation of the case.
