The familial occurrence of dermatomyositis has apparently been recorded in only three instances: Wedgewood (1) noted the disease in "mirror-image" twin girls; Christianson (2) found a pair of sisters with dermatomyositis among 270 patients whose records he reviewed. A third report, involving a brother and sister, has been recorded in the German literature (3).
