Small and readable, this volume consists of essays on the management of emergencies that encompass a major portion of medical practice. Each of the authors, said to be experts in their respective fields, presents the emergency, its nature and pathology, its recognition and a discussion of its treatment as it might be managed by the nonexpert, to tide the patient over a critical period until facilities for full orthodox treatment are available. Individual chapters include pediatric emergencies, tropical emergencies, anesthetic emergencies, dental emergencies, poisons and poisoning, and chapters concerned with the various systems and medical subspecialties.
