In the introduction to this useful and interesting monograph on immunochemical studies of the plasma proteins, Dr. Hitzig draws an analogy to the early efforts of those pioneers whose systematic labors have in the end led to the widespread clinical use of the electrocardiograph, and he expresses the hope that in years to come immunochemistry will play a similarly invaluable role in the practice of medicine. For the time being, however, the authors, under the editorship of Dr. Hitzig, have been content to write a well-documented survey of a difficult topic, and to show some of its clinical applications.
