The authors present a well-organized review of the literature and include considerable of their own data, both published and unpublished. They stress that while much valuable information has been derived from the use of radioisotopes, study of stable iodine metabolism is equally important. The two types of study are complementary and only when they are combined does a clear picture of the over-all metabolism of iodine emerge.
