Consisting of 36 papers, this volume presents a symposium on the pathologic physiology of peptic ulcer held during the Second World Congress of Gastroenterology in Munich, Germany in 1962. The text is divided into five parts: gastric physiology, experimental ulcer production, the effect of pharmacological compounds, local factors in peptic ulcer formation, and systemic factors in peptic ulcer formation with a final essay by the editor on a philosophical approach to causality.
