In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the drug therapy of shock. The present situation can be summarized by immediately stating that there are numerous drugs available for the treatment of shock and almost all of them can be grouped according to their primary actions:  predominantly vasoconstrictors;  predominantly cardiac stimulants;  predominantly vasodilators and  miscellaneous group of drugs that block some humoral agents involved in the pathogenesis of shock.
